Asbury Automotive Group
Asbury Automotive Group is a company based in Atlanta and was founded in 1995. The company operates auto dealerships in various parts of the United States. As of 2018 its rank in the Fortune 500 is 434 out of 500.[3] As of December 2016, it is one of the largest automobile retailers in the United States, operating 96 franchises (80 dealership locations) in 18 metropolitan markets within 10 states.[4] As of August 2017, its dealerships represent 29 American, European and Asian brands. In 2016, the company reported revenues of $6.5 billion and sold over 180,000 retail vehicles.[1] Currently based out of Duluth, GA, the company is led by President & CEO, David W. Hult.[citation needed] In February 2017, Asbury finalized the acquisition of Hare Chevrolet and Hare Isuzu Truck Center, operating in Noblesville, IN.[5] In March 2017, Asbury finalized the opening of Nalley Nissan Cumming, an open point awarded to Asbury in Metro Atlanta.[6] On August 22, 2017, Monaghan announced that he will step down from his position at Asbury effective January 2018, to be replaced by chief operating officer David Hult.[7] On January 9, 2018, Asbury finalized the acquisition of Terry Lee Honda in Avon, IN, adding a second location to their Hare Automotive brand.[8] In February 2019, Asbury agreed to acquire the four-location Bill Estes Auto Group.
AutoNation
AutoNation is an American automotive retailer, which provides new and pre-owned vehicles and associated services in the United States.[3] The company was founded by Wayne Huizenga in 1996, and has more than 360 retail outlets.[4] Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the company’s Chief Executive Officer is Cheryl Miller who abruptly replaced Carl Liebert III.[5] on July 23, 2019.
CarMax
CarMax is the United States’ largest used-car retailer and a Fortune 500 company.[3] The corporate entity behind the formation of CarMax was Circuit City Stores, Inc. The first CarMax used-car store opened in September 1993, 1.7 miles (2.7 km) from Circuit City’s corporate offices in Richmond, Virginia. As of November 30, 2018, CarMax operated 195 locations in 95 television media markets.[4] While CarMax stores focus on marketing used vehicles, the company acquired its first new car franchise with Chrysler Corporation in 1996.[5] By 1999, it added new vehicle franchises for Mitsubishi Motors, Toyota, and Nissan as well.[6] As of November 2018, the only CarMax new vehicle dealerships that remain are the two Toyota stores located in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Laurel, Maryland.

Group 1 Automotive, Inc. (NYSE: GPI) is an international Fortune 500 automotive retailer with automotive dealerships and collision centers in the United States, United Kingdom and Brazil. Group 1 sells new and used cars and light trucks, arranges financial services, provides maintenance and repair services, and sells vehicle parts. As of 2019, the company employs over 15,000 people globally.
Lithia Motors
Lithia Motors, Inc. is an American nationwide automotive retailer headquartered in Medford, Oregon. It is the third largest automotive retailer in the United States. In 2015, Lithia Motors broke into the Fortune 500 list at #482, making it one of only three Oregon-based companies in the Fortune 500. This followed a year that saw the acquisition of the DCH Auto Group, one of the 10 largest dealer groups in the country, with 27 dealerships, before being purchased by Lithia Motors. In 2016, Lithia climbed to #346 and that same year made the Fortune 500 List of Top Ten Companies with the biggest jump in rank on the Fortune 500. As of 2018, Lithia is ranked #294 on the Fortune 500. Lithia employs more than 14,150 people in stores across the nation including Alaska and Hawaii. Lithia operates 180 stores in 18 states.

Penske Automotive Group, headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is an international transportation services company that operates automotive and commercial truck dealerships principally in the United States, Canada, and Western Europe, and distributes commercial vehicles, diesel engines, gas engines, power systems and related parts and services principally in Australia and New Zealand. Penske Automotive Group employs more than 27,000 people worldwide and is a member of the Fortune 500[1], Russell 1000, and Russell 3000 indexes, and is ranked among the World’s Most Admired Companies by Fortune Magazine.
